Quiet and peaceful
We had a lovely time at Dan River! It’s an older home, but very clean and comfortable. It has all the amenities we needed to cook a nice dinner and sit under the stars by the fire pit! Estelle was wonderful to get back with me on any questions I had. It was only about 15 miles to Mt. Airy to tons of restaurants, and the drive was beautiful! If you are looking for a comfortable, country setting you can’t go wrong with Dan River!

Mountain getaway
Loved the rippling stream in front of the property and thank you for providing the tubes! The house was comfortable and roomy and the kitchen is stocked well. Enjoyed our time. Estelle is a wonderful host.

Clean and well supplied
Our family enjoyed our time at the Dan River House. Our grandchildren had a wonderful time with all the toys and a great time playing in the yard and on the river. Our only complaint might would be the large noisy air conditioner in the upstairs bedrooms. They kept the rooms cool but they were loud. Good check in and all items we needed in the kitchen.

Thank you for your nice compliments. The upstairs air conditioners have a quieter'sleep' mode and adjustable fan speeds. I would recommend (to the manufacturer) that the dials to be brighter and easier to read. We appreciate your comments. The best ideas for improvement come from our guests.

Fantastic!
If you're looking to get away and relax, this is the place. We had a wonderful time watching the wildlife and catching fish in the river. Estelle was very good at communicating with us. We'll definitely be back again!

Always a great time
This is my 3rd time staying(and I have already reserved the 4th!) and I am NEVER disappointed! This was my 1st visit with the grands and they had a grad time. My daughter-in-law was very pleased with everything the home had to offer for her children! We didn't have to pack a highchair, pack and play or toys it is all there! If you don't have children, no biggie everything for the kids will not be in your way! Thank you for a great stay...the deer and turkey on the property were a plus!

Peaceful Retreat
It was really nice out there, secluded, but yet not to horrible from town.No real issues. Good value for the days I chosen. Way better than a hotel as you have more conveniences than a hotel. Going to try to go back in warmer weather, so I can enjoy the river a little more. I was really great.

Enjoyed our stay at the Dan River House, the central location worked perfectly . We visited Mt Airy, Pilot Mountain (saw a beautiful sunset), Blueridge Parkway, Mulby Mill, VA Fairy State Park and the Floyd Country Store. Dan River house very accommodating for our group.

Heaven on Earth
Perfect place to unwind & just relax. Sitting on the front porch rocking with the sun shining on you listening to the river. House was immaculate. Plenty of room for a large group & zero traffic. Would recommend this home to anyone.

This house was so peaceful and beautiful! We live in a large city so yo come out here to the wilderness was a big change. Didn’t want to leave. Long weekend away.
We had eight adults for a weekend trip to Mt. Airy, this house and location was great for everything. Wi-fi is weak, so we had a hard time streaming the ball games on Saturday, but other than that everything was fantastic.

Restful retreat

Unplugged peace
This was our 3rd annual trip with children and grandchildren to unplug from work and most electronics and play in the river and take nature walks by day, and cook, eat, play games at the big kitchen table by night. Our time at the Dan River House is therapeutic for all of us. Plan to be back in 2023!

Beautiful - but bring bottled water
The house was as clean as a whistle, and everything was mostly accurate to the pictures. (Front porch furniture was different, and living room furniture had sheets covering it - that's all.) The property was stunningly beautiful with the river. We even saw deer and groundhogs! Beds were super comfortable, kitchen was absolutely spotless and had everything we needed for our stay. It was so lovely and quiet - we would absolutely come back again. About the water: the house is in the country, and therefore the water is quite different from what townies like me are used to. It has a distinct smell and taste, and we wound up being happier bringing our own drinking water. Everything else was perfect for our short stay - even my two teenagers loved being there! Sitting on the front porch listening to the rain was the best part. :) Easy drive up from Mt. Airy where we got groceries, and about 20 scenic minutes to Mabry Mill, 30 to Rocky Knob, and a variety of other really pretty places to explore.

The Dan River House was the perfect place for our family. We spent 2 nights there. The kitchen is lovely and spacious, it was easy to cook and clean up after meals. The beds are very comfortable and with the hot weather the air conditioning was great. We actually got a bit cold!! Wifi was good. The children loved the river, it's shallow and safe for little ones but fun for the older ones too. They had fun using the inner tunes on the gentle rapids. All in all we had a great stay and would choose to stay there again. Highly recommend!

This place is for sure going to be in my saved rentals! The attention to detail on things that may be needed. To the river view and sound on the porch. Water was so called and loved it. The property was exactly as described in the listing. Plenty of room to spread out. The home and furnishing are older but everything was extremely clean and comfortable. The surroundings are peaceful and just what we wanted. The river was perfect and we all enjoyed tubing despite the cold temps during our stay. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!

Great place to get away...
My group didn't get to spend too much time here but this was a great place. We enjoyed our time here and some of my group enjoyed the limited cell service (it was a good thing). There is wifi and it works great and didn't have any issues with devices connected to it. The property is beautiful and truly a place to come and get away. I enjoyed a nice walk down along the river. Boyd's restaurant is just a few minutes away and had great breakfast and good friendly folks there. Mt. Airy is not a far drive for dinner or if you need anything.

Our stay was amazing! Beautiful place. We booked this house so we would be close to “Mayberry”, but we found ourselves not wanting to leave the property because it is so peaceful and beautiful. We all decided immediately that we would be staying here again! Extremely clean house. I could write for days about how awesome this place is! Absolutely loved it!!

Beautiful location
Location is gorgeous and secluded! Just what we wanted. Nobody around for miles! River is beautiful and listening to it was very soothing! House is adorable and has most everything you need. Lots of toys and things to keep little ones busy also. Only spoke to Estelle once and she was very nice. At least one bed was very uncomfortable and needs to be replaced but we survived! If you go make sure to take water for drinking and making coffee, etc. because the water is undrinkable and smells bad. To be expected in some areas though so this is not meant as a complaint. All in all we enjoyed our much needed getaway!
