We loved Vila Monte, the lovely grounds, excellent staff, very relaxed atmosphere. It was a green oasis amid a very arid surrounding landscape. We did not spend much time using the hotel's facilities, but a car was necessary to visit the local towns and coast. We were disappointed with our room(Room 6) although it was only a standard double room, we would have expected a chair in the room as when we were in the room we could only sit/lie on the bed. It was also situated a little out of the way, next to the cleaners room, under trees and with no sunlight or view. (Not one of the better rooms) We ate in the A Terra restaurant twice and felt it was not good value for money - expensive. Again staff very friendly. Breakfast was very good, and staff extremely friendly and helpful. We ate in Moncarapacho, about 5 minutes drive, at Antonio's and Restaurant Da Ana, both very good and very reasonable prices. All in all a lovely hotel, but not keen on the room.
