“Was not impressed”
If we had stayed at this hotel before we stayed at the Rambaugh Palace the review would have been better. This hotel is rated higher but didn't come close to the service, the quality of food, the room or enmities of Rambaugh. We were unimpressed with this hotel.
“Oberoi”
Everytuing was perfect !!!
“Oasis of calm and beauty”
The Amarvilas is an oasis of calm, beauty, and serenity in the heart of the cacophony and chaos that is Agra in general, and the area surrounding the Taj Mahal in particular. This hotel is elegance in the extreme, luxurious without the garish over the top opulence so often seen in most hotels in this price range. The grounds are magnificent and immaculate - while on our visit, we witnessed groundsmen washing the individual stones in the fountains. Service is impeccable. My husband had an unfortunate mishap in the hallway outside our room through no fault of the hotel, and in the scant 15 minutes we spent in our room before exiting, the area had been cleaned by silent and seemingly invisible housekeepers. A staff member immediately inquired about my husband's health, and a physician's services offered. When we went to breakfast, the executive chef stopped by to ensure that my husband was not made ill by any defect of his kitchen, and offered special food at no expense to us. The entire staff seemed to have been made aware that my husband might have been ill, and they responded in an extraordinarily helpful and solicitous manner. Adding to the graceful and elegant nature of this hotel is that gratuities are not accepted unless one wishes to give to the staff as a whole at the end of one's visit. I thoroughly and wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone planning to visit Agra.
“Taj at the Oberoi”
My husband and I had a wonderful time at the Oberoi. We went in low season, and it was very relaxing. The hotel grounds are amazing; however, since it was low season there was quite a bit of maintenance being done and the water fountains were not on. It was still exteremly nice and very relaxing. We stayed in a room with a balcony and view of the Taj and it was spectacular. The spa is also a must do here. I would highly reccommend this location for anyone traveling to the Taj Mahal.
“Perfection”
The Oberoi Amarvilas in Agra defies description - everything about it is perfect - it may be the best hotel we have ever stayed at. We had a great view of the Taj Mahal from our room and were treated like royalty by the staff. Following a trip to visit the exquisite Taj Mahal organized by the hotel (we were provided with tickets, water and shoe covers and transported there and back by golf cart) we returned to the hotel and spent several wonderful hours by the gorgeous pool. It is well worth splurging on this hotel.
“Hope to go back someday!”
I stayed here for two nights with my fiancee this summer, and I loved it! We were lucky enough to get a special rate through tripadvisor, I think because summer is the off-season for tourists, otherwise we might not have been able to afford it (we are both grad students at the moment). The staff was extremely helpful and attentive - my fiancee actually proposed during out stay, and when he asked for wine to be sent up to our room that night, the kitchen staff actually gave us a complimentary Congratulations cake the next night as well. They were just all around helpful and awesome. The free DVD service is a perk as well - most places you have to pay a ton for movies on demand but the Oberoi has a huge selection for free. The best part of the hotel, obviously, is the grounds and the spectacular view. The pool could not have been more gorgeous, nor could it have been more welcome in the 110 F heat... and the view of the Taj really is amazing. If you can afford it, I highly reccomend staying here.
“Fantastic views of the Taj Mahal”
The hotel itself is wonderful and is surpassed only by the excellent view and proximity to the Taj Mahal!
“worth the splurge”
The Oberoi is a luxurious and pampering hotel. From the moment you enter, you are personally greeted by staff. The hotel is breath taking and the service is exemplary. We had our own butler who was available in a moments notice. We also had a terrace (about 500sq feet) that overlooked the Taj. The pool is an infinity pool and the gardens are lovely. The hotel is located within 500 metres of the Taj. It is within walking distance, but the hotel provides a golf cart to transport you to and from the Taj, which is a good idea so you are not bombarded by the hawkers. This hotel is worth every penny and then some.
“Excellent”
Speaking as someone that spends about a third of the year travelling and living in hotels around the world, the Oberoi Amarvilas, Agra has to be the best I have experienced. Without doubt a splendid location, with perfect service from the staff, and a great place to relax. Excellent value for money to be looked after so well.
“très bel hotel mais le service de restauration n'est pas à la hauteur du tout”
Un bel hotel mais il est dommage de ne pas pouvoir dejeuner ou diner avec la vue sur le taj ... la restauration n'est pas du tout à la hauteur du standing de l'hotel .Petit dejeuner mediocre , salle de restaurant froide et deco type cantine ... ce n'est pas digne d'un hotel de ce standing en indes vu le prix .
