We enjoyed our stay at Disblair House. Our family room was traditionally furnished. Beds and electric blankets were warm and comfortable. Bathroom was ensuite with electric shower. Breakfast was tasty, eggs from the hen coop with nice bacon and we had mushrooms and tomatoes. and plenty of white and brown toast ,croissants and waffles. We sampled juices and a cold table with ham, tomato salad, cornichons, cheeses. Freshly made coffee. In the evening we very much enjoyed sitting by a log fire in the honesty bar with a glass of good red wine. My daughter aged 7 did not want to leave this pleasant hotel. Our hosts could not have been more delightful. Recommended

Really glad to know Michael and family enjoyed their stay with us here at Disblair. It was our pleasure to hosr and we are grateful for their kind review. We appreciate when we see our guests making use of the drawing room, using the honesty bar for a glass of wine (or anything else) and simply 'chilling' next to the log fire. We hope to see them all again!

We thank Mark for giving us such a high score for our hosting!! Sadly, for whatever IT gremlins that exist, we were not able to access Mark's extended report on his stay with us. However we are very grateful that they (hopefully!) enjoyed the Disblair 'experience'!!! Please come back and stay with us again.

I cannot recommend Disblair House enough!!! We had an absolutely wonderful stay there thanks to Karolyn and Chris and their wonderful hospitality. They went above and beyond to make everyone comfortable. Their breakfast spread was exceptional. I will most definitely go there again and recommend anyone else to as well.

Holy goodness! What a gem!
My husband and I stayed here, and we absolutely fell in love with the place. We were greeted at the door by Caroline, who showed us around. Our suite was quiet, private, and extremely comfortable. There was a den with a fireplace in the evening. It is a bit out in the country, but that is what made it a dream. Chris and Caroline were incredible hosts and dedicated to providing such a lovely experience. The breakfast was above and beyond, and offered so many options. We fell in love with Disblair House, and we would recommend it. Thank you for such a wonderful stay!

A real find
The hotel has been a real find We were up on some family business and had not been aware of the hotel although it was relatively local to our family base in Oldmeldrum This hotel was a real find, so welcoming and comfortable, as well as being pet friendly. We will make it our go to place for any future visits up north Lovely place and lovely people. Top marks

Well - thank you very much for giving us such a positive review!! It was a pleasure to meet you and Richard (and Mila the Spanish dog who was on her best behaviour!) and yes, as and when you have further visits back to Aberdeenshire, it would be a pleasure to be your hosts again.

Lovey place, well worth a visit.
A first class, really different B&B. Lovely old building filled with amazing furniture and a lovely collection of quirky items, both inside and outside the house. Beautiful spread of continental breakfast items, plus a hard to beat cooked Scottish breakfast, the plates full of good quality local produce. Karolyn and Chris were the perfect hosts, who made every effort to make our stay comfortable, with some nice touches. Due to the rural location, the honesty bar is a great idea for those who want to relax in the lovely surroundings, in front of the open fire. It’s easy to find, plenty of parking and a warm welcome, add in a great nights sleep, it has everything!

Relaxing stay
Very warm welcome received and friendliness extended throughout stay whilst keeping within Covid19 restrictions. Informative regarding local area. Breakfasts excellent, apologies given for packaged butter/jam because of current regulations, compensated with warm croissant served with the toast. Quiet country setting, would definitely return.

Somewhere different.
For something a little different give this a try. First impressions may leave you a little unsure as it's not your usual crisp white accommodation but once you get in it's a great place run by a lovely couple who can't do enough for you. And if you're really lucky you may get to pet the chickens - we didn't unfortunately.

This lovely property was so private and bucolic! It was situated in a country setting, but it was also ideally about 5 minutes from good restaurants and a market. Karolyn and Chris were very welcoming and quickly made us at home in our well appointed room, which had a huge en-suite bathroom with gorgeous tub and separate shower. Thoughtful touches like fresh cozy robes and a sweet were on our beds, and also tea and biscuits in room for our refreshment. Karolyn and Chris stoked up a roaring fire and regaled us with interesting stories about local goings on and the history of Disblair House in their parlor. In the morning, a terrific made to order breakfast was provided, along with an assortment of cheeses, juices and fruit. We hated to leave, but will cherish the warm evening we spent with our thoughtful, funny and interesting hosts - and new friends. A must stay if you are in the area!

Thank you so much for taking the time to post such a positive and extensive review. The ethos of Disblair House is to provide our guests with welcoming 'home from home' accommodation where they can feel comfortable and relaxed and we are delighted that it appears we were able to supply such a venue! We always enjoy the times when we can interact with our guests and learn a little of their own lives and homeland. We also enjoy being able to provide residents with information about the locality and places of interest around Scotland which may assist them in the progress of their journeys. A chat with residents in the evening around the drawing room's coal fire is always pleasant for us and we're glad it was for you also!! Many thanks again for your review and we hope you enjoyed your visit to Scotland!

A hidden gem.
This B&B is really wonderful. There is so much character about the place and a history dating back to the 16th century. Carolyn and Chris are perfect hosts. They bought Disblair House in 2005 as almost a ruin and have spent time to bring backck the original character, with period furniture and fittings. Okay, the road up to the premises could do with some attention and there's still things to be done outside but once inside you are immersed in a warm atmosphere (aided by the biomass boiler system), where there is much to see and it's almost like stepping back in time. Our room was very well equipped with nothing to look for, yet at the same time had the same period furniture with a wonderful four poster bed which was very comfortable. There is a comfortable lounge with a roaring log fire where one can enjoy a drink and a chat. The breakfast room is equally interesting with antique furnishings. The breakfast menu is lovely and offers a good selection. Certainly nothing antique about the breakfast - yummy! All in all we had a lovely weekend stay here and would certainly recommend this to anyone who likes to see real character, and of course warm and friendly hosts.
