What you can expect

  • Begin your ascent via the steepest cogwheel railway (available only in spring and summer) in the world, starting from Alpnachstad, or enjoy a panoramic gondola ride from Kriens. Both routes offer spectacular views of alpine meadows, lush forests, and rugged mountain cliffs.

    At over 2,100 metres above sea level, the summit of Mount Pilatus offers 360-degree views of Lake Lucerne, the surrounding Alps, and even glimpses of the Jura Mountains on clear days. Hike along scenic trails, discover hidden viewpoints, and immerse yourself in the mountain's mythical atmosphere, known for its legendary dragon tales.

    Afterwards, immerse yourself in the charming old town of Lucerne, known for its historic Chapel Bridge and impressive Old Town. Walk across Lucerne’s most iconic landmark – a 14th-century covered wooden bridge adorned with historic paintings and a symbol of Swiss heritage.

    Visit the moving Lion of Lucerne, a world-famous sculpture commemorating Swiss Guards who fell during the French Revolution – described by Mark Twain as “the most mournful and moving piece of stone in the world.”
