What you can expect

See the sunrise from the most popular volcano in Indonesia, Mount Merapi and visit Jomblang Cave, the most unique cave in Yogyakarta.

Begin with pickup from your accommodation in Yogyakarta early in the morning. Then travel to the Merapi Jeep Basecamp. From there, hop on to a 4x4 off-road Jeep and start the adventure.

Marvel at the passing views while your guide fills you in on the region's history. Drive up the epic Mount Merapi volcano and feel the endorphins rush through your body as you enjoy the ride. Stop at several viewpoints, such as the Bunker, to get Instagram-perfect pictures of this famous volcano.

Later on, travel to Jomblang cave, and be ready for 68 kilometres travel. Enjoy beautiful landscapes along the way while your friendly driver negotiates the notorious Yogyakarta traffic.

Once you’ve arrived at the cave, explore Jomblang Cave and witness a heavenly light where it feels as if angels could descend. Use rappelling equipment to descend around 50 metres to the bottom of the cave, then walk through a slippery muddy tunnel to the spot where you will catch this spectacular ray of light.

After you finish exploring the cave, sit back and relax as you will be returned to your accommodation.
