What you can expect

Discover two of Indonesia’s most iconic flavours in one immersive half-day experience from Yogyakarta. Combining coffee, chocolate, local cuisine, hands-on workshops, and a factory visit, this journey offers a unique introduction to the traditions, craftsmanship, and flavours that have shaped Indonesia’s culinary heritage.

Begin with hotel pickup from Yogyakarta City and travel to the southern area of Yogyakarta for an interactive coffee experience led by a local coffee expert. Learn about Indonesia’s coffee culture and explore beans from renowned regions such as Aceh Gayo, Toraja, Java, Bali, Lampung, and Ijen. Discover how altitude, climate, soil, and processing methods influence flavour and aroma.

Enjoy a guided coffee tasting session and learn to identify different flavour notes, body, and acidity levels. Then take part in a hands-on brewing workshop where you will prepare your own coffee using manual brewing techniques under the guidance of an experienced barista. Learn practical skills including grind size selection, water temperature, pouring methods, and extraction techniques. As a souvenir, each guest will receive two 50-gram packs of Indonesian coffee of their choice to take home.

After the workshop, enjoy a traditional Javanese lunch featuring authentic local flavours and regional specialities before continuing your journey.

Next, visit Chocolate Kingdom in Bantul for a complete cacao discovery experience. Explore the chocolate museum and mini cacao plantation while learning about the origins of cacao and its journey from tree to chocolate bar. Continue with a behind-the-scenes factory tour and observe the chocolate-making process from roasted cacao beans to finished products.

During the visit, enjoy a comprehensive tasting experience that includes fresh cacao, cacao mass, single-origin chocolate, white chocolate, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, and authentic Indonesian hot chocolate. Gain a deeper understanding of how ingredients, cacao varieties, and production methods influence taste and quality.

The highlight of the experience is a hands-on praline-making workshop. Create three Belgian-style pralines with smooth fillings, decorate them with your own personal touch, and take them home as delicious handmade souvenir.

Throughout the day, meet passionate local, learn traditional and modern production techniques, and gain a deeper appreciation for Indonesia’s coffee and chocolate industries. With hotel pickup and drop-off, a traditional Javanese lunch, guided tastings, workshops, factory visits, and take-home souvenirs included, this experience offers the perfect blend of culture, flavour, and creativity.

Depending on Chocolate Kingdom’s workshop schedule, the order of activities may vary. Guests may visit the chocolate experience before or after the coffee workshop while enjoying the same complete itinerary and inclusions.
