What you can expect

Explore the rainforest of Ketchikan on a guided tour. Learn about the local flora and fauna, see salmon spawning during salmon season, and visit a totem pole park. Enjoy a small group experience with a maximum of 11 people.

Travel to the Tongass National Forrest, the world’s largest temperate rainforest. As you make your way from your pickup location to the trail, travel along the Tongass Narrows and listen to the tales of the land.

Spend some time walking in the woods. Along the trail, breathe in the fresh air next to some Old Man's Beard, which only grows in the purest oxygen setting. With your nature guide, discuss the abundant beauty and what it takes to maintain such a fabulous resource.

During salmon season, have an opportunity to see salmon spawning in their natural habitat while the river passes by them down to the ocean. Learn about how the salmon and abundant rain provide many of the resources to keep the forest vibrant.

After your nature walk, enjoy a hardy cookie and a bottled water. Then, travel to one of the local totem pole parks to explore the rich history of the indigenous people. As you venture through some Sitka Spruce, Cedar, and Hemlock trees, the trail will open, and you will be immersed in totem poles.

Make your way into the clan house where you can see some truly amazing hand-crafted art by a local artist. Your guide will share stories about some of the totems that you see as well as provide some insight into how the natives of the area lived.

After you complete your walk with the totem poles, journey back to Ketchikan with one last round of narration from your guide.
