All experiences start and end at our Flagship Jamie OʻBrien School of Surf, located on the ground floor of the Twin Fin Hotel on Kalakaua Avenue, directly across from the world-famous Waikīkī Beach. Guests have two convenient parking options: valet at the Twin Fin Hotel (recommended) or self-parking at the Honolulu Zoo. If you choose the zoo, please pay at the automated machines for at least 2.5 hours; the walk from the zoo to our shop is approximately 5 minutes west along Kalakaua Avenue. Check-in is 15 minutes prior to your lesson start time.

Upon arrival, we’ll check you in and provide secure lockers to store your belongings safely. All you need to bring is swimwear, reef-friendly sun cream, and a towel for after your lesson. We provide a rashguard, reef shoes, surfboard, and surf leash to ensure you’re fully equipped for your session.

Each lesson begins with a 15–20 minute “land lesson,” where you’ll learn ocean safety, basic surfing techniques, and how to use your equipment. From our flagship shop, just steps from Waikīkī’s gentle waves, we guide you into the water for a safe and fun surf experience.

Lessons are led by trained instructors from the team of professional surfer and Pipe Master Jamie OʻBrien. Your instructor will tailor the session to your skill level and learning style, covering paddling, stance, wave selection, and how to pop up. Once you’re ready, you’ll hit the water for a full hour or more of guided surfing.

In the ocean, your instructor stays right by your side, offering personalised feedback and adjustments to help you catch more waves with confidence. Their passion for surfing and the ocean ensures an enriching, memorable experience for every participant.

After your lesson, return to the Flagship shop to relive the excitement—your photos will be displayed on state-of-the-art digital screens, allowing you to select and take home the memories you want to cherish.

Lastly, relax on your reserved complimentary beach chairs and umbrella after your lesson, steps from the ocean.
