Your journey in Wadi Rum begins with an authentic experience of true Bedouin life. The programme lasts for two days and two nights, ensuring you have enough time to fully explore the beauty of the desert and immerse yourself in the local culture.
Upon your arrival at 10:30 AM, we will meet you at our office in Wadi Rum Village and welcome you with traditional Bedouin tea. During this time, we will explain the customs and traditions you are encouraged to follow during your stay with the Bedouin family. We also give you a full overview of the programme and answer any questions you may have.
After that, we drive together to the family’s home located in the heart of the Wadi Rum desert. Upon arrival, you will meet the family members. Men stay in the men’s section of the Bedouin tent and women in the women’s section, respecting privacy and Bedouin traditions. Throughout your stay, you can take part in several daily Bedouin activities that offer a genuine cultural experience, including:
– Preparing traditional Bedouin tea and coffee over the fire.
– Collecting firewood and helping set up the evening fire.
– Assisting in cooking traditional meals such as zarb or mansaf.
– Learning how to make bread on the saj or the traditional shrak bread.
– Herding goats or camels with a family member.
– Helping provide water and feed for the animals.
– Learning how to wear the traditional keffiyeh or Bedouin headscarf.
– Learning to write your name in Arabic
– Enjoying storytelling sessions around the fire, listening to old Bedouin tales.
– Helping arrange the tent and seating area before sunset.
This two-day, two-night experience allows you to fully connect with the desert, the Bedouin lifestyle, and the warm hospitality—creating unforgettable memories.
