What you can expect

  • On this approximately 90-minute walking tour of the Petersberg, you will not only have the opportunity to immerse yourself virtually in history and experience the atmosphere of the Middle Ages up close – you will become a part of it!

    Our guides will first take you to the medieval scriptorium in the Defence Barracks and familiarise you with the 360° time travel headsets. You will then meet our virtual monk brother Kuno, who will also accompany you on the fascinating journey back to the year 1181 and, at nine further stops, provide fascinating insights into everyday life in the monastery at original historical sites. Stroll along medieval paths and experience the Abbey Church of St. Peter and St. Paul in all its splendour.

    The highlight of the tour: Experience up close the dramatic moment when Henry the Lion knelt before Emperor Barbarossa – a key moment in history – which comes to life in our VR tour.
