Your trip begins with an 8:30AM pickup from your accommodation for a guided tour of Victoria Falls. Once there you will witness one of the greatest shows on earth as the raging waters of the Zambezi River crash inevitably into the Batoka Gorge. The experience takes you through parts of the Victoria Falls rainforest to the cliffs opposite the massive cascade. From there, you’ll get a fantastic view of the main falls, as your guide reveals interesting facts about the wildlife, geology, and history of this famous African landmark.
The explorer and missionary David Livingstone who discovered the Victoria Falls for the British Empire (naming the Falls for his queen), carved his name in 1855 into a baobab tree on a Garden Island above the precipice of the well-known waterfalls. Known as “Big Tree”, this now-famous tree may has been estimated to be about 2,000 years old using details from its girth and growth rings.
At midday your driver/guide will drop you at your hotel so that you can relax and enjoy lunch. You can request a place you want to have your lunch, and your guides will happily provide complimentary transfers. Following lunch at 1:30PM you will enter a different world where a way of life continues as it has done for centuries. In an authentic and local village, you can participate in daily tasks by offering a helping hand to the natives. This will help you gain a real feel for the traditional village life.
Finally, enjoy some tasty snacks and drinks as you meander along the Zambezi River and watch the sun go down for the day. Soak up the great atmosphere amid lush riverine vegetation, prolific bird life, and abundant game. You’ll see plenty of hippos and crocodiles, as well as elephants crossing the river to get to the rich vegetation of the island. At the conclusion of your experience, you'll be returned back to your accommodation.
