What you can expect

  • Ancient Egypt comes to life! One of the most breathtaking archaeological discoveries in history unfolds in all its glory. Thanks to state-of-the-art technology and more than 800 detailed reconstructions, the mythical world and the shimmering treasure chamber of the legendary pharaoh Tutankhamun come to life. An experience that gets under your skin!

“TUTANCHAMUN: An Immersive Adventure” goes beyond the limits of a traditional museum visit and allows visitors to fully experience the legendary history of ancient Egypt. The meticulously recreated burial chamber of Tutankhamun, combined with an immersive experience and captivating soundscapes, catapults visitors directly into the past, into a time of legendary Egyptian myths. You've never been this close to the discovery!

For curator and Egyptologist Dr. Wolfgang Wettengel, the storey of the pharaoh and that of the discoverer Howard Carter are shrouded in many exciting myths: “The life and death of Tutankhamen and the discovery of his tomb and unique treasure can be experienced in an exhibition to this extent and with this intensity for the first time.”

In 1332 or 1333 BC, Tutankhamun ascended to the throne at the age of nine as one of the last rulers of the 18th dynasty. His father Akhenaten introduced religious reforms that destabilized the empire, which Tutankhamun opposed. His origins and early death remain partly unexplained to this day; he presumably died after a short reign as a result of an injury and illness.

The discovery of his tomb by Howard Carter in 1922 is one of the most significant historical events. An extraordinary treasure trove was found, containing jewellery, artefacts, and the famous Golden Mask, which still fascinates people around the world today. “TUTANCHAMUN: An Immersive Adventure” fascinates its visitors with over 800 detailed replicas of the treasures from the three burial chambers, delights with scientifically based graphics, and offers the unique opportunity to experience the pharaoh's treasures as Howard Carter found them when he discovered them over a century ago.

On an immersive journey through time, visitors venture to the Valley of the Kings, where they witness Howard Carter's famous excavation of King Tut's tomb before reaching the lively streets of Cairo and the bustling bazaar. Through this state-of-the-art 360° technology, visitors experience the mythology of Ancient Egypt and follow the king beyond the boundaries of life on his journey into the afterlife, witnessing his transformation from a mortal ruler to the eternal sun god.
