The UNESCO reclaimed land above Amsterdam is called the Beemster Polder, this is where we drive through to our first tulip field It is part of the Defence Line of Amsterdam (Stelling van Amsterdam), a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Beemster Polder, reclaimed from a lake in the early 17th century, showcases a perfect example of Dutch ingenuity in water management.
