You will be welcomed by your local guide and taken on a journey through the progressive, modern-day Aboriginal community of Wurrumiyanga. Visit the museum, featuring fascinating displays of traditional art and Tiwi “dreamtime” stories. Enjoy a break for lunch, then spend time with Tiwi women as they create their artwork. Your guides and the ladies will also demonstrate traditional totem dances and perform a smoking ceremony to bless visitors, explaining the cultural significance behind each ritual.

You’ll explore the renowned Arts & Crafts Centre, see where the artists work, and have the opportunity to purchase authentic Tiwi artworks and screen-printed fabrics at island prices. Learn about the complex rituals associated with the Pukamani (burial ceremony) before returning to the ferry landing to board your vessel, departing Bathurst Island for Darwin at 3:15 pm.
