This impressive Gothic monument was built to commemorate the Portuguese victory at the Battle of Aljubarrota in 1385. Visit to the Church of Santa Maria and the Castle of Óbidos and its walls (1H45): Santa Maria Square, the heart of the village, where the Church of Santa Maria is located. This church, with its Renaissance architecture and beautiful tiles, was the scene of the wedding of King Afonso V and his cousin Isabel in 1441, when both were still children. After visiting the church, we continue on to the Castle of Óbidos, one of the best examples of medieval military architecture in Portugal.
