Your journey begins in Tbilisi with convenient hotel pickup and a comfortable small-group drive towards the Greater Caucasus. This is more than a standard Kazbegi sightseeing trip—it is a full-day mountain adventure combining dramatic landscapes, historic landmarks, local flavours, photography stops, and optional outdoor experiences.
Start with a relaxed coffee stop before leaving Tbilisi. Follow the Georgian Military Highway as the scenery transforms into forests, valleys, cliffs, and mountain roads.
Your first major stop is the spectacular Zhinvali Reservoir, where turquoise water meets dramatic mountain scenery. Enjoy time for photographs before continuing to Ananuri Fortress. Explore this historic complex and its beautiful setting above the reservoir. Depending on weather, season, and availability, you may also choose an optional boat trip or horse-riding experience.
Continue to Pasanauri for a mountain lunch break. Guests seeking more adventure may choose optional rafting on the Aragvi River, subject to weather, safety conditions, and availability.
After lunch, continue towards Gudauri, where the landscape becomes increasingly alpine. An optional 4x4 Jeep experience may take you to additional mountain viewpoints beyond the main route.
At Gudauri Panorama, stop to admire sweeping Caucasus views and capture memorable photographs. For adventure lovers, optional paragliding may be available, offering an incredible view of the mountains from above. This depends on weather, safety conditions, and operator availability.
Continue towards Stepantsminda and the Kazbegi region, with a complimentary Georgian honey tasting along the way. Depending on the selected experience and local arrangements, you may also enjoy Georgian wine and learn about local hospitality and regional traditions.
In Kazbegi, continue by 4x4 vehicle towards Gergeti Trinity Church, dramatically positioned above Stepantsminda. Enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Kazbek, also known as Mkinvartsveri, and the surrounding Caucasus peaks. Take time to explore, photograph the landscape, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.
The journey then continues towards the Darial Gorge, one of Georgia’s most dramatic mountain landscapes. Depending on road access, weather, and local regulations, the route may continue towards the Georgia–Russia border area. Access beyond permitted visitor areas is subject to current restrictions.
Throughout the day, your local guide will share stories about Georgian history, mountain traditions, local communities, and the landscapes around you. After exploring the Caucasus from reservoir to high mountain, relax on the return journey to Tbilisi with hotel drop-off at the end of the day.
