Commissioned by Emperor Shah Jahan in 1631 for his beloved queen Mumtaz Mahal, this white-marble mausoleum took around 20,000 artisans and 22 years to complete. Your guide explains its perfect symmetry, gardens and pietra dura inlay work, and shows you the best photo spots, where a professional photographer captures up to 20 free photos of your group. Choose Agra Fort OR the Baby Taj (stop 5) for your second monument. This UNESCO-listed red-sandstone fortress was built by Emperor Akbar in the 1560s and later embellished by Jahangir and Shah Jahan. Your guide shows you its palaces, audience halls and the Musamman Burj, where Shah Jahan spent his final years imprisoned by his son Aurangzeb, gazing at the Taj Mahal across the river.
