What you can expect

  • Begin your private tour with a pickup from your accommodation in Syracuse or Ortigia. Enjoy a comfortable 40-minute drive through the scenic Val di Noto, characterised by limestone hills and almond groves.

Arrive in Noto, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the “Capital of Baroque.” Enter the city through the majestic 19th-century triumphal arch, Porta Reale. Walk along Corso Vittorio Emanuele, the main promenade, flanked by golden limestone palaces that glow in the sunlight.

Admire the grand staircase and the stunning facade of the iconic Noto Cathedral (San Nicolò). Visit the balconies of Palazzo Nicolaci, famous for their elaborate carvings of lions, centaurs, and winged horses.

Take a seat at the legendary Caffè Sicilia. Managed by world-renowned pastry chef Corrado Assenza (featured on Netflix’s Chef’s Table), this is the temple of Sicilian confectionery. Try their signature Granita (almond, lemon, or mulberry) served with a warm brioche, or the classic Cassata Siciliana.

Your guide can suggest a local trattoria in Noto for a traditional lunch of Pasta alla Norma or Arancini, or you can head straight to the coast for a seafood lunch.

Next, take a short 25-minute drive to Marzamemi, one of Sicily’s most picturesque fishing villages. Explore Piazza Regina Margherita, the heart of the village, surrounded by the old fishermen's houses and two churches.

Explore the historic tuna processing plant, The Tonnara, dating back to the Arab domination.

Enjoy a stroll along the “Balata” (the old marble-paved harbour) or a quick espresso overlooking the turquoise sea before heading back. Finally, return to Syracuse, arriving just in time for an evening aperitivo in Ortigia.
