What you can expect

  • Built in 1342 during the Yuan Dynasty, Lion Grove Garden is one of Suzhou Four Great Gardens and the representative Yuan‑Dynasty Zen‑Buddhist garden. Inscribed on the UNESCO World‑Heritage List in 2000 and listed as a National Key Cultural‑Relic Site. Known as the “Kingdom of Rockeries”, it boasts China’s largest and most intricate ancient Taihu‑stone rock‑maze. Emperors Kangxi and Qianlong visited repeatedly; Qianlong even replicated this garden inside imperial palaces. Once owned by I. M. Pei’s family, it perfectly combines Zen philosophy and Chinese rock‑stacking gardening craft.

With this entry ticket, you can visit at your own pace and enjoy a relaxed self-guided experience in one of the city’s most recognisable garden landmarks. The garden is especially known for its maze-like rock formations and elegant Jiangnan-style scenery, making it a favourite for travellers who want something cultural, photogenic, and easy to fit into a Suzhou itinerary.

It’s a simple, flexible, and high-value way to experience a true Suzhou classic.
