What you can expect

Skokloster castle is situated next to lake Mälaren on a rural penninsula between Stockholm and Uppsala. From the bus stop and car park the distance is about 300 metres to the castle entrance facing the lawn.

Inside you will be transported back to the late 17th century as you walk through the halls and chambers of the home of renowned field marshal Carl Gustav Wrangel of the 30-years war fame. His great house has been miraculously preserved in almost every detail to give you a rare glimpse into the life of people now long since gone. See the furniture, tapestries, paintings, and much more. If you take one of the guided tours you will also see the armoury and the huge unfinished banqueting hall, tickets to these are sold at the museum entrance. The knowledgeable castle staff will bring the adventurous times of old back to life again and make the people of the portraits seem flesh and blood with all their sorrows, joys, yearnings and hopes.

The museum has free audio guides in eight different languages, and houses a striking exhibition of everyday objects as well as rare luxury items from large parts of the world. Daily guided tours are available in both English and Swedish and will take you through all four floors of the castle. A well stocked museum shop caters for all ages and offers a variety of unique objects only available here.

A visit to Skokloster castle will be a memory to cherish long after you have returned home.
