Obviously, these are wild animals, so sightings cannot be guaranteed
The excursion lasts about 3.5 hours: we will board an intimate and welcoming boat , designed to offer all passengers a close and engaging experience.
On board, you will find expert spotters and a 20-minute introductory video lesson on cetology, in Italian and English , with interesting facts and insights about the inhabitants of the Ligurian Sea
During the navigation, Alessandro, Emiliano and Ettore, our expert spotters , will accompany you throughout the excursion, actively searching for cetaceans and providing useful tips to help you recognise and spot them. You will also be able to participate actively , assisting the crew in the search.
To improve the sighting experience, we recommend bringing binoculars
Thanks to the presence of deep canyons very close to the coast, sightings are often possible after just about 30 minutes of navigation ⏱️
It is important to know that cetacean research in the Sanctuary requires patience and careful observation of the sea surface: there are no fixed times or guaranteed locations.
To ensure maximum respect for cetaceans and minimise any disturbance to their natural behaviour, we follow a strict code of conduct during sightings.
In particular, we limit the time spent near the animals to a maximum of 30 minutes ⏱️, so as not to interfere with essential activities such as feeding, resting, or socialising.
During the approach, we maintain slow and controlled navigation , always keeping a safe distance and avoiding sudden changes in speed or direction, in order to prevent stress to the animals.
Our goal is to offer an authentic and responsible experience , allowing you to observe cetaceans in full respect of their natural habitat, without ever disturbing their freedom.
The excursion takes place in the open sea, far from the coast; if this is your first experience or if you are prone to seasickness , we recommend taking some precautions: have a light breakfast (avoiding dairy products and heavy foods) and, if necessary, take seasickness medication about 2 hours before departure
