Step inside the “home” of Tuscany's first truffle traders: the Gazzarrini family (since 1885). In San Miniato, you will enjoy a physical, sensory, and educational experience that brings together nature, food culture, and local tradition.
The activity begins with truffle hunting in the woods, in an environment suitable for truffle seeking, surrounded by the characteristic Tuscan landscape. You will be accompanied by a truffle hunter, his dog, and a guide dedicated solely to you. You will walk amidst the scents of moss and earth, listening to the forest beneath your feet, and above all, learning to respect the rhythms of nature and to trust the dog's nose, which will lead you to the precious tuber.
After the hunt, the experience continues with a convivial moment: a welcome toast with a glass of Prosecco and a tasting of assorted crostini with truffle sauces and pairings (e.g., truffle sauce, truffle bruschetta, four cheeses and truffle, mushrooms and truffle). Next comes the signature dish: tagliolini pasta with a generous grating of fresh, seasonal truffle, accompanied by wine, water, and coffee.
Throughout the day, you will learn about the world of truffles: the secrets of truffle hunters, dog training, how to recognise truffles, and how to cook them. You will also be provided with photographs taken during the experience. The tour concludes with a stop at the Gazzarrini shop, where you can purchase fresh truffles and truffle products.
Estimated duration: 2–3 hours. Recommended attire: Sportswear and comfortable shoes; boots available if needed.
