Deep in the forests of Vikaköngäs, the Forest Elf has hidden small treasures for families brave enough to search for them.
Nobody knows exactly where the Forest Elf lives. Some say he watches over the forests, rivers and wildlife of Lapland. Others believe he only leaves behind clues, treasures and signs of his presence for those willing to explore the Arctic wilderness.
On this magical family-friendly evening adventure, children and parents follow a lantern-lit trail through the beautiful riverside forests of Vikaköngäs in search of the Forest Elf's hidden treasures.
The experience begins with a short drive from Rovaniemi to one of the region's most beautiful nature areas. Upon arrival, children receive their own lantern and hear the storey of the mysterious Forest Elf before setting off into the snowy forest.
One of the highlights of the evening is a lantern walk across the famous Bridge of Friendship. Carrying lanterns through the Arctic twilight, families cross the suspension bridge together before continuing deeper into the peaceful forest trails beyond.
This is where the treasure hunt begins.
Hidden along the route are small treasure pouches left behind by the Forest Elf. Some contain Finnish treats, while others hold small surprises inspired by Lapland. Every discovery brings new excitement as children and adults explore the forest together.
The trail eventually leads to a traditional Finnish wilderness shelter where a warm campfire awaits.
Gathered around the fire, families can relax, grill sausages, roast marshmallows and enjoy hot drinks while sharing stories about the treasures they discovered along the way.
