The Rila Monastery is the most visited UNESCO site in Bulgaria. This tour gives you the opportunity to fully enjoy it, and feel the Bulgarian spirit, and culture!

The monastic complex is located only on a 2-hour drive from Sofia. The first part of the way goes through a motorway. The second part passes through picturesque villages, and the beautiful Rila Mountains National park.

You will have plenty of time (2.5 hours) to explore the largest, and the most famous Bulgarian Monastery, and its surroundings on your own. Everything here - from the arcaded balconies to the unique frescoes is work of the most famous Bulgarian Revival Period painters, and masters.

The architecture of the Monastery is in full symbiosis with the surrounding mountains, which makes this holy sight one of the most photogenic places in Bulgaria! The air here is always fresh. You can drink pure mountain water from the fountains in the yard, or try fresh, local food in the nearby restaurants. Famous local specialities include trout soup, bean soup, and mekitsa (Bulgarian donut).

If you visit the monastery museum, you will admire items from different epoques, and see the famous wooden cross, carved by Father Raphail.

The Boyana Church is located in the outskirts of Sofia. It is famous for its perfectly preserved XIII century frescoes, which are considered predecessors of the European Renaissance. The figures from the biblical scenes depicted there express individuality, vitality and psychological depth. You will have 10 minutes to explore the interior of the church, due to preservation measurements for the frescoes, but these 10 minutes will be a life-remembering experience!
