What you can expect

  • The River Daugava and Riga Canal encircle Riga’s UNESCO-listed Old Town, passing many of the city’s most memorable landmarks. Taking a boat trip allows you to see and become acquainted with the most popular landmarks of Riga within just an hour.

A city boat ride starts at the pier near Bastejkalns - it located only a hundred metres from the Freedom Monument, which is one of the numerous landmarks to see. After exploring Bastejkalns and the Freedom Monument, the boat will take you to see the National Opera House of Latvia, the ceaseless bustle of Riga Central Market, Spikeri (ancient warehouses) District, the National Library of Latvia, picturesque Old Town, the statue of Great Kristaps, Riga Castle, passenger terminal, Andrejosta, Freeport Administration and Kronvalds Park, finalising the boat trip around Riga together with “Riga by Canal” with the National Theatre of Latvia.

“Riga by Canal” tours with canal ships will be the best option for you if you wish to see the most famous landmarks of Riga from a completely different vantage point - to see the Riga, which would normally remain in the background.

It is possible to take ship tours both individually and within a group. Group and individual excursions along waterways are offered on four cruise and passenger ships of “Riga by Canal” - “Darling”, “Maria”, “Laima” “Rebeka” and Lisbeth each being able to carry 8-23 passengers.

The boats are equipped with an audio guide available via your smartphone.

See the sightseeing highlights of Riga in a way which might reveal yet unknown treasures, which are worth seeing, to the eyes of a tourist!
