Overview

Work with pure Chuncho cacao—a Natural Patrimony of Peru sourced from small, independent farms in Quillabamba, including the coffee-growing relatives of your host, Walther Silva. By joining us, you directly support local farmers and continue a family lineage of traditional Andean agriculture.

You are guided by Juanita Hufnagel, a 2-time Hatun Karpay Initiate and Advanced Shamanic Practitioner specialising in soul retrieval and somatic integration. An award-winning author and TRE-Certified specialist, she bridges ancient tradition with modern nervous system regulation.

Co-facilitated by Walther Silva, a native Peruvian IFBB-certified holistic coach and founder of FitAndes. Walther integrates professional athletic discipline with advanced breathwork and meditation, specialising in high-altitude performance and mindful movement. Together, they offer a trauma-informed, intimate space that honours the journey of the plant from the high jungle to your heart.

Activity itinerary

In this half-day (4 hour) experience in Peru's Sacred Valley, you will travel the complete journey of cacao, from raw bean to ceremonial cup, using one of the rarest and oldest known cacao strain cacaos on Earth – Chuncho. This is not your garden-variety chocolate, and most people will never experience it in its raw form. In this experience, you will hand-roast, grind, and mould it yourself. The first two hours are a fully hands-on artisanal workshop — hand: sorting, roasting, cracking, grinding, and moulding your own ceremonial cacao. The final two hours are a trauma-informed cacao ceremony where you drink the medicine you made, with your own hands, navigate heart-opening practices, emotional integration, meditative breathwork, somatic awareness work and integration practices, and tools to carry forward. Leave grounded and with a personalised, medicinal-dose of ceremonial cacao and a profound sense of relational trust and Andean tradition. There is nothing else like this in the Sacred Valley. Master the alchemy of cacao and experience a fusion of meditation, soulful somatic healing, high-altitude breathwork, and ancient ceremony in the heart of the Andes.
