An atmosphere of fog and life Just an hour from Villa de Leyva, the landscape transforms. The air gets purer, and the silence is only broken by the dripping of water. We invite you on a journey of reconnection in the Páramo de Rabanal, a sacred ecosystem that serves as the water heart of Boyacá. Here, you're not just a spectator; you become an ally of the territory.
The path of the sentinels Your journey begins in the company of Luis or Andrea, local leaders whose lives are intertwined with the defence of this sanctuary. Together with our trilingual team, you'll venture into ancient trails where the high Andean forest reveals its secrets: wild orchids, tree ferns, and mosses that keep the earth's moisture. As we ascend, the vegetation shrinks to give way to the real stars: the Frailejones (Espeletia spp.). These ancient plants, which grow just one centimetre a year, will surround you in the imposing Valley of the Frailejones, creating a scene that seems frozen in time.
Landmarks of the territory We'll explore points steeped in history and mysticism, such as the Piedra de las Gualas and the Mirador de los Enamorados, from where the view is lost in the immensity of the Andean mountains. You'll learn about the medicinal plants that local communities have used for centuries and the vital importance of the hidden lagoons that feed the entire region.
Your legacy: “Roots of Life” Programme The highlight of the experience is the opportunity to give something back to the earth. As part of our regenerative tourism philosophy, you'll participate in a day of planting a native tree. You'll leave a living footprint in the páramo, directly contributing to the restoration of this fragile ecosystem. It's an act of mutual gratitude: the moorland gives you its peace, and you give it back life.
