The walking tour starts at the Macorix Museum House of Rum. Here, you will discover everything about the production and history of the country's most important export product, naturally including a tasting. Along one of the city's oldest streets, Calle 30 Marzo and Calle Imbert, we will reach “La Chocolatería.” There, you will learn all about the cultivation and production of Dominican chocolate, including, of course, some tasting. Just around the corner are the city's most famous highlights: the completely pink “Paseo Doña Blanca” and the Street of Umbrellas. Once you've taken your photos, you'll then have the opportunity to purchase small souvenirs or gifts at Island Treasures. Now we have reached the city centre: Independence Park, with the Town Hall and San Felipe Cathedral, is a popular destination for locals, especially on weekends. With a typical Dominican ice cream, we recommend simply letting the city life wash over you. From here, the route leads to the renowned Monsenor cigar factory, where a short tour of the cigar-rolling process provides insight into an important tradition. Immediately afterwards, a small pedestrian zone awaits our visit. Along the largest street, the “Malecón” waterfront promenade, you will pass by the popular photo spot “Puerto Plata” and continue to one of the city's most historic sites: Fortaleza San Felipe. From the fortress, which once protected the city, the path leads us back to the waterfront promenade and to the fire station. It has some bizarre and incredible stories to tell. Next, we'll head to Polanco for lunch. Choose between fish, meat or vegetarian – everything is freshly prepared. Refreshed, you will continue to Playa Acapulco, where the Caribbean swimming waters await you. The tour comes to an end with some relaxation on the beach and cool drinks (included). The last optional stop will be at the La Sirena mega supermarket. Here, you can stock up on everything from sun cream to shampoo to toothpaste at affordable prices.
