Then discover the colonial city: Independence Parque with the Saint Philip Cathedral and colourful old wooden houses around it, famous Umbrella Street and Dona Blanca Pink Street. Explore the Saint Philip Fortress along the harbour bay and have a look at the fishing boats on the Esplanade seaside boulevard.
In the afternoon you'll have a typical dominican lunch: fish or meat with rice and beans. It's called “bandera dominicana” - “dominican flag”. If you're vegetarian or vegan we will arrange something different for you. Soft drinks during the meal are included.
After the meal you'll visit the factory Macorix House of Rum where you can taste many kinds of rum and sugar cane liquors. It'll make you feel the Caribbean vibes :)
Dominican Republic is known as the world's biggest producer of organic cocoa. You'll visit the organic chocolate factory in Puerto Plata where you can taste it.
Finally, we can drop by the supermarket for a while, so you can do some dominican shopping: rum, coffee, cacao, etc all in affordable local prices.
