Prosecco Origins will take you back in time to the 14th century to discover the history of the world’s favourite sparkling wine, exploring the pieces of land where it all began.
Hidden in a corner of north-eastern Italy overlooking the Gulf of Trieste you can find the old villages of Contovello and Prosecco for a chance to learn about the origins of Prosecco wine.
Start with a walking tour with your experienced local host through the narrow streets and hidden passages in the historic village of Contovello, once home to a castle with a tower overlooking the city of Trieste and its gulf.
Visit a vineyard walking down the ancient green terraced overlooking the sea, a unique feature of this incredible land and an example of heroic agriculture.
As you stop for a break to enjoy the views and the crisp fresh air coming from the sea, have the chance to taste boards of farmhouse-sourced regional home-made cheese, cured meats and local delicacies, including a selection of traditional sparkling and still wines.
