Panathinaiko Stadio

Pause at the Panathenaic Stadium, originally built in 330 BC for the Panathenaic Games and later rebuilt in marble by Herodes Atticus around 144 AD. With a seating capacity of 60,000, it’s the only stadium in the world made entirely of marble. After centuries of abandonment, it was revived in the 19th century and famously hosted the opening and closing ceremonies of the first modern Olympic Games in 1896.
