Sigiriya, also known as Lion Rock, is an ancient rock fortress in Sri Lanka. Built in the 5th century by King Kashyapa, it served as a royal palace and later a Buddhist monastery. The site features impressive frescoes, landscaped gardens, and a giant lion-shaped entrance carved into the rock. Rising 200 metres above the jungle, Sigiriya is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Sri Lanka’s most iconic landmarks.
