Activity itinerary

Serravalle Pistoiese (Pass by)

As you leave Florence towards Lucca, the route crosses the Arno valley and the fertile plains near Pistoia, internationally known for its vast plant nurseries. Along the way, enjoy views of cultivated fields and tree-lined landscapes, with the rising slopes of the Apennine mountains in the distance and, approaching Lucca, glimpses of the Apuan Alps on the horizon.

Lucca

  • 2h
Discover Lucca, one of Tuscany’s most elegant and best-preserved historic cities. Famous for its intact Renaissance walls, Lucca retains its original Roman street layout and a refined medieval atmosphere. Walk through Piazza dell’Anfiteatro, built over an ancient Roman amphitheatre, stroll along Via Fillungo, and admire the Cathedral of San Martino and the church of San Michele in Foro. With its quiet streets and harmonious architecture, Lucca offers a timeless glimpse into Tuscany’s cultural heritage.

Lucca

  • 2h
When visiting Lucca, your driver tour escort will introduce you to the highlights of the historic centre before you explore the city at your own pace. The tour includes entrance tickets to the Cathedral complex, allowing you to visit the Cathedral of San Martino, climb the bell tower, explore the cathedral museum, and discover the fascinating archaeological remains beneath the Church of Saints Giovanni and Reparata.

San Giuliano Terme (Pass by)

Leaving Lucca, the road heads south towards San Giuliano Terme, skirting the gentle slopes of the Monti Pisani. This stretch offers a quieter rural landscape of olive groves, cultivated fields, and tree-lined roads, with small villages nestled at the base of the hills. San Giuliano Terme, historically known for its thermal springs frequented since Roman times, marks the natural gateway to Pisa.

Piazza dei Miracoli

  • 1h
Visit Piazza dei Miracoli, Pisa’s monumental cathedral square and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This breathtaking open space is dominated by four architectural masterpieces—the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, the iconic Leaning Tower (campanile), the circular Baptistery of San Giovanni, and the historic Monumental Cemetery—each built between the 11th and 14th centuries and set against a broad green lawn. With approximately 1 hours of free time, enjoy exploring the exterior of these world-famous landmarks, taking photos, and soaking in the artistic harmony that makes this one of Italy’s most compelling and recognisable sites.
