Bimmah Sinkhole is one of Oman’s most stunning natural wonders—a deep, turquoise pool nestled in a limestone crater between the sea and the mountains. Formed by a natural collapse of the earth’s surface, the sinkhole is around 20 metres deep and 50 metres wide, surrounded by dramatic rock walls and palm trees. The crystal-clear water shifts in colour from emerald green to deep blue, inviting visitors to swim, relax, or simply take in the view. Local legend says the sinkhole was created by a falling star, giving it the name “Hawiyyat Najm,” or “The Star’s Crater.” Located just off the coastal road between Muscat and Sur, it’s easy to access through a well-maintained park with steps leading down to the water.
