The city of Ferrara has preserved intact over the centuries the great prestige it assumed during the Este era. With an ambitious urban plan of the d'Este family, Ferrara ,was transformed from a medieval citadel into a true Renaissance work. Even today , thanks to the urban plan commissioned by Ercole I d'Este, the spirit of the Renaissance and that evocative fusion of the new and the old can still be grasped, which has caused UNESCO to include Ferrara in its list of World Heritage Sites. The historic centre represents one of the best-preserved examples of a medieval city, starting with the Castello Estense.

A walk along the narrow streets of "little Venice." The historic centre of Chioggia is medieval in origin and was rebuilt in the late 14th century. The Cathedral of Santa Maria, built in the 17th century, stands on the remains of a medieval church destroyed by fire , and was designed by Longhena who was inspired by the architecture of Palladio. Next is the Tower of Sant'Andrea, a bell tower of about 30 metres, which in the Middle Ages, when it was built (10th-11th centuries), had defensive and control functions over the port of Chioggia. Finally, unmissable, the famous " fish market."
