Two Destinations. One Full Day. No Logistics to Manage.
This full-day tour covers two destinations that most visitors treat as separate trips: Pretoria, South Africa's administrative capital, and the Cullinan Diamond Mine, one of the most historically significant active mines on earth. Your guide handles all transfers, entrance fees, and sequencing throughout.
Pretoria: A City Built on History
Your morning opens at the Voortrekker Monument, a landmark commemorating South Africa's pioneering Great Trek era, offering panoramic views across the city alongside guided historical context. From there, you will pass the Kgosi Mampuru Correctional Centre, formerly Pretoria Central Prison, where your guide connects the site's apartheid-era significance to the country's broader political storey.
The Paul Kruger Museum brings you into the world of one of the Boer republics' most consequential leaders, with artefacts and exhibits tracing his presidency and the Transvaal's political landscape. Church Square, the historic heart of Pretoria, follows, surrounded by architecture that documents the city's administrative evolution. The Union Buildings, South Africa's seat of executive government, close the morning. When open, your guide takes you onto the grounds for city views and architectural context. On weekends and public holidays, the building is viewed from outside.

Cullinan: Where the World's Largest Diamond Was Found
The Cullinan Diamond Mine opened in 1902 and made history in 1905 with the discovery of the Cullinan Diamond, a 3,106-carat rough stone, the largest gem-quality diamond ever found. Several of its cut stones now form part of the British Crown Jewels. The mine remains fully operational today and is the world's primary source of rare blue diamonds.
Your visit begins with a short video presentation covering mine history, geology, and diamond grading. The guided surface tour then takes you across the active operation, where you will observe current extraction techniques and understand the full journey from rough stone to graded gem. A midday lunch stop at your own cost separates the two destinations, giving you time to recharge before the afternoon.
