We set off from Praia towards the lush interior of Santiago, where the island reveals its most authentic side. The scenic road takes us to São Domingos, where we will taste the traditional cornmeal cake – simple, authentic, and steeped in tradition.
We continue to Órgãos, a land of fertile valleys and majestic mountains, where the pace slows down and nature dominates the landscape.
In Assomada, we visit the lively municipal market, immersing ourselves in the colours, flavours, and authenticity of the island’s interior.
As we cross the mountain range, the mountains give way to breathtaking coastal views until we reach the paradise of Tarrafal. Here, one of the most beautiful beaches in Cape Verde beckons you to relax, swim, and contemplate. For those who wish, it is possible to visit the historic Tarrafal Concentration Camp, a significant symbol of the nation’s memory.
