What you can expect

On the Via Francigena, just a few metres from the Montalbano Dolmen in the province of Brindisi, in the heart of the plain of monumental olive trees, on a strip of land owned by the Zizzi family, the MILETO GARDENS now stand.

An ancient quarry and the surrounding land have been transformed into a nature park featuring plants from around the world.

Every day, the road is used by tourists on foot or by bike, by religious pilgrims, and by visitors staying in the many historic farmhouses in the Itria Valley area.

Biodiversity, revitalisation, inclusion, and promotion of the local area are just some of the values underpinning this project. This beautiful botanical garden offers the opportunity to get closer to nature and discover its immense variety, all while remaining in an urban setting. An experience that can enrich the mind and the heart for the whole family.

Fourteen hectares of land offer a unique trail divided into themed areas, each featuring different flora from various parts of the Mediterranean and the world, all particularly well suited to our soil and climate.

IL CAMMINO (The Path) runs along a tree-lined route bordered by species with different flowering periods, offering a changing palette of colours throughout the year’s seasons.

The second area of the garden is THE THEATER, which, due to its natural layout, provides a perfect backdrop for events of all kinds.

THE PALM GROVE is a place where art and poetry intertwine, stimulating visitors’ imaginations.
The rustling of the sugarcane, the gurgling of the water, and the swaying of the pampas grass are a source of tranquility for the mind.

The fourth area, “THE DESERT,” features succulent plants (also known as cacti) intended to recreate an environment typical of water-scarce regions, demonstrating that even in arid and rocky areas, it is possible to create an environmentally sustainable garden.

The fifth area is THE OLIVE GROVE. This area illustrates the evolution of olive growing through the replanting of an old olive grove and its conversion to an intensive, semi-irrigated system. In this area, you can also observe how the number of animal and plant species changes further.

The sixth themed area is THE ORCHARD. Here, colours, scents, and flavours intertwine. Visitors can observe the combination of different types of fruit trees, both new and old cultivars, with medicinal and aromatic herbs, and at the same time, they can sample the various seasonal crops and taste or purchase the extra virgin olive oil we produce.

The Mileto Gardens are firmly committed to educating the public about sustainability: every experience within the Gardens offers the opportunity to reconnect directly with nature and, at the same time, learn more about biodiversity and the evolution of best ecological practices.
