Serralves in Light, which has already been recognised by The Times as one of the 10 best exhibitions to visit in all of Europe, returns in 2026 for a 4rd edition inviting the public to discover Serralves Park through an immersive experience that transforms the nighttime landscape into an extraordinary outdoor light exhibition.
Combining art, nature, and technology, this experience reveals new ways of experiencing and interpreting this unique space, offering an unforgettable visit.
Under the concept Light vs. Darkness, this edition explores the relationship between light and darkness, revealing a landscape in constant transformation. Throughout the night, nature, architecture, and the elements of the Park become the setting for a dialogue between the visible and the invisible, presence and mystery, inviting visitors to discover new ways of feeling and experiencing this place.
With creative direction by Nuno Maya, in collaboration with the Serralves Park team, and production by the OCUBO studio, the project is grounded in the values of sustainability, innovation, and creativity.
The brand-new route, approximately 2 km long, features 20 light art installations designed specifically for this setting, which use multimedia, interactivity, sound, and visual effects to create stunning worlds of light.
Each installation establishes a unique dialogue with the spaces, flora, and architectural elements of Serralves, transforming the perception of the landscape.
This experience is enriched by an original soundscape, designed specifically for the exhibition. Seven leading Portuguese musicians— Francisco Rebelo, Gonçalo Garcia dos Santos, Inóspita, Maria João, Noiserv, Pedro Antunes, and Rodrigo Leão —have created original compositions to accompany different installations, exploring the dialogue between sound and silence. Just as light gains meaning through darkness, so too does sound find its space for expression in silence. This relationship is one of the central narratives of the tour, enhancing the emotional and immersive dimension of the visit.
Serralves in Light 2026 thus stands out as a unique artistic initiative in the city of Porto, inviting visitors of all ages to explore Serralves Park during a nighttime experience where art, nature, technology, and imagination converge to reveal new ways of seeing, feeling, and experiencing the landscape.
