Visit Ilonka Experience Farm during different seasons! Walking through a polar night winter wonderland or sunny mid winter scene, seeing the huskies in their homes, cuddling with sheep, learning about life on the farm, nature and Finnish mythology, and enjoying the idyllic atmosphere. The activities, warm soup and drinks and fireplace will keep you warm during the cool winter months.
Here at Ilonka, you get to connect with nature, each other, and yourself.
On the path, you will find tasks to do, to be, to sense, and to feel. You will meet the furry family members, learn their names, and some special facts about each animal. Watching the huskies play and sheep gaze is meditation in itself.
After the outdoor activities, it’s nice to explore Lilli’s Boutique with ecological products and handicrafts and enjoy the calming atmosphere in the cosy sensory hut Kammi. You can also write a letter to Santa and post it in his letterbox while having lunch or sipping a warm drink.
During winter time, we have two slots daily for Kids’ and Teens’ Husky Sledding where the minors get to take the reins and drive on their own or with the help of their guardians. This, as well as the Husky Walks into the wilderness, is an additional activity which we recommend booking in advance.
If you want to cuddle with the huskies, please book some activity also: a husky walk and / or kids’ husky sledding.
Please note: If you want your child (ca 4-17 years) to participate in the Husky Sledding Activity, you need to purchase an additional ticket for this. There is a limited number of spots in these activities, so please book well in advance!
The gates at Ilonka open at 1pm and close at 5pm. Within this time limit, you can stay however you wish. Usually two hours is enough. The additional Kids’ Husky Sledding is at 1.30 and 2.30 (book in advance!). At 3.45pm we have sheep cuddling time, and at ca 4.30 the huskies get their dinner. The additional Husky Walk activities are at 11am (2 hour programme) and at 4pm (1 hour programme). The additional activities are not included in the farm visit.
You can reach the farm by bus, car or taxi, or even walking, by bike, snow mobile or kick sleigh. If you use the taxi, please book the return in advance because sometimes taxis in the region are extremely hard to get.
You are warmly welcome to Ilonka and enjoy the afternoon at the farm!
