What you can expect

  • Visit the historic and charming city of Petropolis on a customisable private tour. An expert guide joins you as you make your way through the city, nestled among the forested hills of the Serra dos Órgãos, in the valley of the Quitandinha and Piabanha rivers.

Located 37 miles (60 km) away from Rio de Janeiro, Petropolis has been called the Imperial City and is named for Brazil's last emperor, Pedro II. Settled by Germans and once a summer residence for aristocrats, Petropolis keeps the memory of Brazilian history alive with its buildings and charming streets.

With a personal guide to share insight into the city, you can learn the storied background behind the venerable sights. Customise your itinerary and your destinations as you like: see the Imperial Museum, Quitandinha Palace, Gothic Cathedral, or the homes of royalty from the days of the Empire of Brazil to get your most out of your time in Petropolis.
