Journey from remote mountain villages through Horton Plains National Park, tackle the famous Devil’s Staircase, walk historic tea trails near Lipton’s Seat, and finish in the iconic hill town of Ella with visits to the Nine Arches Bridge and Demodara Loop.

This experience is ideal for active travellers, hikers, and nature lovers seeking deep immersion in Sri Lanka’s highland landscapes and cultural heritage.

Day 1: Arrival – Hatton

Meet & greet at Bandaranaike International Airport. Enjoy a scenic transfer to Hatton (approx. 4 hours). Spend your leisure time surrounded by tea plantations. Overnight stay in Hatton (Bed & Breakfast).

Day 2: Dayagama – Horton Plains – Udaweriya (Stages 10 & 11)

Trek from Dayagama village into Horton Plains National Park. Walk through cloud forests rich in wildlife and endemic birds. Descend the legendary Devil’s Staircase. Enjoy views towards Udawalawe and the southern plains on clear days. Overnight stay in Udaweriya.

Day 3: Udaweriya – Haputale (Stage 12)

Enjoy a scenic descent through tea fields and abandoned villages. Walk along railway tracks near Idalgashinna Station. Pass Adisham Bungalow and Thangamale Sanctuary. Overnight stay in Haputale.

Day 4: Haputale – St. Catherine (Stage 13)

Trek through forest reserves and historic tea estates. Enjoy views towards Lipton’s Seat and the Dambatenne Valley. Walk along high-elevation tea trails. Overnight stay in Haputale.

Day 5: St. Catherine – Makulella – Ella (Stage 14)

Walk past Lipton’s Seat and vegetable terraces. Enjoy panoramic views of the Namunukula Mountain Range. Descend through villages, tea estates, and forest paths. Overnight stay in Ella.

Day 6: Makulella – Ella – Demodara (Stages 15 & 16)

Hike towards Ella Rock with views of Ella Gap. Visit the iconic Nine Arches Bridge. Walk tea trails to Demodara Tea Estate. Finish at the famous Demodara Loop Railway Station. Overnight stay in Ella.

Day 7: Demodara – Hali Ela (Stage 17 – optional extension)

Trek past tea estates, bridges, and forest paths. Enjoy views over Ella and Demodara Valley. Finish at Hali Ela Railway Station. Overnight stay in Ella.

Day 8: Ella – Airport

Have breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to Colombo / Airport (approx. 5.5 hours). End of tour with unforgettable hill-country memories.
