Head out to Dique de Tororó, Salvador’s only lake, decorated with colourful orixá spirit statues. See the impressive Arena Fonte Nova, where the US football team played its last 2014 FIFA World Cup™ match back in July of 2014. Next, make your way to the 18th-century church of Nosso Senhor do Bonfim to learn about the city’s most notable religious traditions and celebrations.

A great example of Salvador’s colonial architecture is the snow-white Monte Serrat fortress, built back in 1742 and overlooking a small beach and the whole bay area. Enjoy more spectacular views as the Lacerda Lift takes you down from an altitude of 236 feet. Back on sea level, cross the street to visit the Mercado Modelo, famous for its handicrafts.
