Paragliding over Pamukkale offers a thrilling sense of freedom directly above the snow-white travertines and ancient ruins. Compared to balloon tours, it is a much more dynamic and personalised experience.
Here is the detailed information and instructions you need for this exciting activity:
General Information
Take-off Point: Usually departs from Dynamite Hill (approx. 300 metres high), located right next to the travertines.
Flight Duration: Depending on thermal air currents, you will stay in the air for 10 to 15 minutes.
Tandem Flight: You fly with a professional pilot; no technical knowledge or prior experience is required on your part.
Timing: Unlike balloons, paragliding can be done throughout the day, depending on wind conditions.
Important Instructions and Tips
- Preparation and Clothing
Footwear Choice: This is the most critical rule. Since you need to run during takeoff and landing, you must wear laced athletic shoes with good grip. Sandals or high heels are strictly prohibited.
Clothing: The wind can be sharp in the air. Even in summer, a light windbreaker or long-sleeved shirt will increase your comfort.
Sunglasses: Recommended to protect your eyes from the wind and to see the landscape clearly.
- During the Flight (Pilot's Instructions)
Take-off: When the pilot says “Run!“, you must not stop or try to jump. You need to run steadily until you are airborne.
Landing: Upon landing, your pilot may ask you to extend your legs straight or perform a short run.
Camera: For safety reasons, you are usually not allowed to film with your own phone; however, pilots take photos and videos with professional action cameras (GoPro, etc.), usually for an extra fee.
- Restrictions and Health
Weight Limit: For safety reasons, there is usually an upper limit of 110-120 kg (approx. 240-265 lbs).
Health: You must inform the staff if you have heart conditions, panic attacks, or serious physical injuries.
Age: Generally, anyone over 5 years old who is physically able to run a short distance can participate.
Adrenaline or Serenity?
You can tell your pilot how you want your flight to go. You can choose a calm glide to enjoy the view, or you can ask for acrobatic manoeuvres (wing-overs, spirals) to get your adrenaline pumping.
