by Highland Explorer Tours Duration 9h Free cancellation available No booking or credit card fees
per adult Price is £49

Get to know the landscape that framed the story of Jamie and Claire on this tour to the true filming locations from the hit series Outlander. A local Scottish guide joins you for a day filled with familiar towns and castles, all while sharing the gruesome real-life history behind the show's epic tale.

A comfortable tour bus carries you out of Edinburgh to begin your journey across the Scottish interior. Your first destination is Doune Castle, one of the best-preserved mediaeval castles in Scotland, which not only served as Clan MacKenzie's seat of Castle Leoch but had starring roles in both Game of Thrones and Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Next, head into the historic Kingdom of Fife for a visit to Culross, which appeared as the village of Cranesmuir where Claire was accused of witchcraft. Get a look at Scotland's most complete example of a 17th-century burgh before you grab lunch in the town of Falkland, whose collection of historic buildings made it the ideal stand-in for 1940s-era Inverness.

Our journey continues to another iconic Outlander sites, Dysart Harbour used as the French port of Le Havre in season two before our final stop at Midhope Castle, the real-life Lallybroch, arriving back in Edinburgh early evening.

The Outlander trip was fun, informative - Fiona our driver and tour guide was a fountain of knowledge on the subject and Scotland, which was great for us first time visitors to the country. Fiona could really handle that big bus too - I am so glad that we didn't have to drive those narrow roads. Thank you for the wonderful day.
