What you can expect
A few kilometres away from Cosenza, there are 2 world-renowned mediaeval villages: Cleto and Fiumefreddo Bruzio. Cleto is a small mediaeval village located 200 meters above sea level, in a hilly position, at the foot of Monte Sant'Angelo, from where you can see all the green valley that descends gently to the Tyrrhenian Sea, covered mostly by olive trees. At the top of Cleto dominates an ancient castle. It is the Mediaeval Castle of Cleto, known as the Savuto Castle. The walk through the centre of Cleto is pleasant, starting from the lower part, from the Church of Consolation to the top, where the castle is located. The tour offers evocative and always exciting scenarios, you can see the contrasts of the roofs of tiles with the green of the valley down to the blue of the sea.
Fiumefreddo Bruzio is nominated as “Borgo dei Borghi”. It is considered one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. From its enchanting cliffs, or from the numerous terraces overlooking the sea, the view extends to Sicily, the Aeolian Islands, the Calabrian coast and the mountains of Cilento. With this One day urban trekking you will visit with our guide the buildings and alleys that characterise these villages. There will also be a visit to the mediaeval castle in Cleto and Fiumefreddo and then conclude with a breath-taking view of the Tyrrhenian Sea. After the visit we will stop for lunch in a farm or organic restaurant with local products at km zero.
