MEETING OUR GUIDE. Your guide will be waiting for you at the museum's main entrance & she will have a sign with your name written. TOURING THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE. Founded in the 8th century B.C. and famous for its Olympic games of antiquity, your guide will lead you through its extensive ruins which include the places where the original athletes were taught & trained, and you will enter through the tunnel to emerge in the stadium in which they competed. The site is still home to the Temple of Zeus and Hera where the Olympic Flame is lit, and the workshop of Phidias in which the Giant statue of Zeus & wonder of the Ancient World was produced.

TOURING THE MUSEUM. Not to be missed is the modern on-site museum which houses many masterpieces and a large amount of artefacts uncovered from the site, from pre-history to early Christian periods. Its permanent collection includes an almost complete pediment of sculpture from the Temple Of Zeus, a bronze collection & many significant pieces such as the very drinking cup of Phidias, excavated from his workshop & possessing his name in the inscription.
