What you can expect

Guided tour on the creation and use of the historic rock passages over the past 700 years

Over the course of many centuries, the citizens of Nuremberg dug vaults and passageways into the vibrantly coloured sandstone beneath their city. The extensive rock cellar complex was first mentioned in a document in 1380. Over the course of many years, these cellars were used primarily for maturing and storing beer – above all, the red Nürnberger Stadtbier.

Today, the Altstadthof microbrewery once again uses a small section of the intricate, labyrinthine cellar system for the maturation and storage of speciality beers and beer spirits.
Of course, the guided tours include visits to the brewery and the whisky distillery. Afterwards, visitors can sample the speciality beers, especially the original Nuremberg red beer, in the tasting boutique, the brewery pub, the restaurant, or the Schmelztiegel cellar bar. Stop by – it's well worth it!
