What you can expect

  • Step into the Hardangerfjord and feel your immersion suit take your weight as you lean back in the water. Available from autumn through spring, this guided experience combines relaxed floating with the chance to move around and have fun in the fjord.

Meet your guide in the lobby of Thon Hotel Sandven in Norheimsund. After a short safety briefing, get help putting on your insulated immersion suit before heading to the shoreline.

The sheltered bay is right beside the village waterfront, with the hotel and marina nearby. You can wade into the water, settle back and float, or get out and enter again during the session. If conditions allow, you can also try a jump from the pier under your guide’s direction.

No swimming skills are required: the suit keeps you afloat, and your guide stays close throughout. Most guests spend around 30–45 minutes in the water, with time to find their balance, relax and enjoy the surroundings. You can leave the water earlier whenever you wish.

Afterwards, gather by the fjord for a warm drink and light snacks. Digital photos are included and sent after the tour.

Allow approximately 75 minutes for the complete experience, including the safety briefing, changing, floating and refreshments.

    ⏱️ Floating time: 30–45 minutes
